Rescued, Rehabbed Parrot Release

SoCal Parrot recently released rescued and rehabbed Lilac- and Red-crowned Amazons and Red-masked Conures into the wild to rejoin wild, naturalized flocks of their own kind. The released birds were born in the wild, but needed help for various reasons, such as falling out of a nest or being injured in other ways. Brooke Durham and her dedicated team at SoCal Parrot do an amazing job with these super-intelligent birds, which can live to be more than 30 years old. The 8 released conures photographed below joined a flock of about 40 wild conures. The release took place at sunset, at a conure roost tree in a suburban La Mesa neighborhood.
